Reserve Capacity Relief Valve (RCRV) Low Temperature Storage
Description

Documentation
Designed to provide overpressure protection on low pressure, low temperature storage tanks when a large volume of vapor is generated by unusual conditions. O-ring seat provides bubble-tight performance to 95% of set pressure. Full open at set pressure – no overpressure required to achieve rated capacity.
Features & Benefits:
Soft Seat – An O-ring seat provides bubble-tight performance to 95% of set.
Tension Link – The valve is held closed by a combination of tension link and spring force, to provide positive opening at set and bubble tight shut-off at reseat.
Full Open at Pop – No overpressure required for rated capacity.
Maintenance – All parts requiring maintenance can be replaced with the valve installed, with the tank pressure at 50% or less of set.
Available set pressure range: 24" – 1.5 to 5.0 psig [103 to 345 mbarg] 36" – 1.5 to 3.0 psig [103 to 207 mbarg]
Applications Overfill: Under some level control failure conditions, cold liquid could be pumped over the top of the inner wall and into the warm insulation space, thus generating excessive vapor. The RCRV is capable of relieving this excessive vapor.
Mechanical Failure: Should the inner wall on a double wall tank fail and permit liquid to pass through into the insulation space, excessive vapor will be rapidly generated. The RCRV can relieve the resulting vapor.
Rollover: The RCRV provides the very large orifice area needed to prevent excessive overpressure caused by boil off of lower density product rolling up and over higher density product.
Loading Error: Loading propane into a partially filled butane tank will produce dangerous quantities of vapor. The RCRV can provide the large capacity necessary to relieve this excessive vapor.
